The colours within this city are wondrous. The incongruous nature of neighbouring buildings is somehow a uniting force. There was public uproar in Bogota in 2011 when police murdered 16 year-old Diego Felipe Becerran when he was caught painting his signature work; an image of Felix the Cat. In the aftermath of the protests, the law was changed in Bogota where graffiti and street art is now condoned.
Despite graffiti historically being an act of defiance, it appears that artists have embraced the freedom. As a result, the streets of Bogota are draped in expressive, opinionated and culture-enriching pieces.
